James Lyle was born in 1919. The son of Jack and Myra Robinson of Dalton le Dale, husband of Margaret E Robinson of Sunderland

Died June 29th 1940aged 21 in the France and Belgium theatre of war. Is remembered at the Dunkirk Memorial.

The memorial stands at the entrance to the British War Graves section of Dunkirk Town Cemetry. During the Second World War, Dunkirk was the scene of the historic evacuation of the British Expeditionary Force from France in 1940. It commemorates more than 4,500 casualties many of whom have no known grave.
